How to Get Years of Enjoyment From Your Gracewood Products

Care and Use of Products

Cutting Boards:

Your cutting board has been pre-seasoned with 100% food-grade mineral oil, which has been rated safe for food contact. This seasoning of the wood is done to penetrate the fibers of the wood and prevent other liquids and by-products to soak into the board and cause any unsanitary issues.

A well-oiled and maintained board will have limited shrinkage and expansion. A dry board will eventually be prone to warping and cracking, so oil maintenance is key!

It cannot be stressed enough to use a “Food-Grade” mineral oil when maintaining your board. DO NOT use standard mineral oil, vegetable, corn, olive, or peanut oils to season your board. These are rich in fats and will go rancid, resulting in a foul-smelling board!

Care of Your Board:

Every one to two months, or whenever you see the surface “drying” out, you should season the board surfaces with fresh oil. Rub the entire surface of the board and edges with a new coat of oil, using a soft cloth. Pour the oil on the surface and rub it into the wood in the direction of the grain with a soft cloth.

Allow the board to sit in an upright fashion for at least an hour to allow the oil to soak in, then buff the board with a clean soft cloth. Use care when applying oil, it spreads very quickly, and a little can go a long way!

Cleaning Your Board:

General cleaning is done under warm running water with mild hand soap using a textured sponge. Be vigorous in your scrubbing! Pat dry with a soft cloth and allow it to dry standing upright. DON’T allow it to dry lying flat, it may warp as one side dries faster than the other.

To clean light stains or help with smells, use lemon juice or white vinegar directly on the stained area, and scrub with a textured sponge. Then, clean residue per instructions above.

NEVER clean a cutting board in a dishwasher!
NEVER clean a cutting board with bleach or any harsh chemical!
NEVER let a cutting board stand-in, lay in, or soak in water!
ALWAYS let a cutting board dry standing up, drying flat will lead to warping!

Stoppers and Stopper Displays:

NOTE: Stoppers provide a reasonable seal, given all the different size bottlenecks, but ALWAYS store the wine in a standing position, never lying down. Stoppers are not intended for long term storage!

DO NOT immerse the stoppers or displays in water, and NEVER place them in a dishwasher.

DO NOT use any household cleaning chemicals on your stoppers or displays.

If stoppers or the displays are dirty, simply use a soft cloth, wet it with water, and gently wipe the unit clean. The use of a mild detergent soap can be used for difficult stains. Pat dry with a soft cloth.

Gravity Boards:

DO NOT immerse the gravity boards in water, and NEVER place them in a dishwasher. If they are dirty, simply use a soft cloth, wet it with water, and gently wipe the unit clean. The use of a mild detergent soap can be used for difficult stains. Pat dry with a soft cloth.

DO NOT use any household cleaning chemicals on your Gravity Boards.
